Deep beneath the waves of the Aestarian Sea, hidden from the prying eyes of the world above, lies a city unlike any other. Escaria, a bioluminescent metropolis, carved into colossal spires of coral that have grown out from the sea floor.

Here, aquatic and terrestrial beings coexist side by side, using the natural resources of the ocean to build their homes and structures. The coral itself is used to produce specialized bubbles that stick to the underside of the coral shelves, providing safe passage for the surface dwellers. And thanks to the coral's ability to filter water into oxygen, they provide breathable air for all.

As one enters the city, they are greeted with a breathtaking display of bioluminescence, as the coral both inside and outside glows with vibrant hues of green, blue, and purple. Passageways and elevators lead to other parts of the city, along with artificial rivers and flooded sections, providing access for the aquatic races.

The first residents of Escaria were the Kandji, a race of immortal jellyfish humanoids. The city's seclusion mixed with the Kandjis longevity has made Escaria the most technologically advanced city in Veargreum and perhaps all of Crius. Therefore citizens of Escaria have mastered the art of using materials from the ocean to power their machines and generate energy. They have built specialized machines to generate power from the ocean currents and learned to harness energy from geothermal vents on the ocean floor.

But Escaria is not without its challenges. Dangerous beasts and outsiders lurk in the depths of the ocean, some even hunting the citizens of Escaria since their first breath. The Tides, the city's governing body, has made adequate defenses, weaponizing squid ink and creating powerful water cannons that can tear through metal or beast hide. Clothing and armor are forged from fish scales, and the highly-prized volcanic rock taken from the geothermal vents.

Despite the challenges, the citizens of Escaria thrive, with food abundant and a governing body that caters to the basic needs and integral parts of city life. Real estate is highly prized, with the top and bottom spots of the city being the most coveted, while the middle is densely populated with the lower class.

But reaching Escaria is not without obstacles, as navigating the sea floor's kelp forest can be treacherous. Fortunately, the citizens of Escaria have trained specialized animals that can safely carry passengers to and from the city.

Escaria is a magnificent underwater city that truly exemplifies the beauty and ingenuity of its residents.
