Creature CollectionThe Nisari Elves, also known as Moonweave elves, trace their origin to a celestial catastrophe when one of Crius's twin moons, shattered into pieces. Most of the scatter moon became the planetary rings but the remaining pieces rained down upon the emerging mortal races. The impact sites, scattered across the material plane, became the birthplaces of these ethereal beings, transforming mortals into the first elves. Each elven subtype emerged based on the unique environments surrounding the impact sites, resulting in a diverse array of elves sharing common traits.
Tall, lean, and muscular, Nisari Elves exhibit glowing freckles, pointed ears, crescent-shaped pupils, and a distinctive longevity, living up to 500 years. A swirling halo of moon dust particles envelops their heads when they cast spells, with high elves possessing a constant dust halo. Their connection to the destroyed moon grants them extraordinary abilities, allowing them to manipulate gravity to leap great distances and manipulate moon-dust runes on their skin.
Moon dust, a rare and precious substance, enhances their strength and longevity. Elves can share this essence to heal fellow kin, but the scarcity of moon dust makes it a valuable and sought-after resource. Elven society, structured and beautiful, boasts large cities carved from stone, scattered throughout Crius. These cities, mirroring the diversity of elven types, are situated within natural or artificial craters, paying homage to the original craters left by the fallen moon pieces.
Spiritual and arcane, the elves are adept warriors, utilizing their acrobatic prowess with slashing weapons like glaives and scythes. Their nocturnal nature and aversion to daylight are remnants of their celestial heritage. Beauty standards among the elves favor those with more freckles and runes, symbolizing the moon's cratered surface.
Elven society's spiritual nature is reflected in their holidays and rituals which give praise to the goddess of the moon Nisa, aligned with different lunar phases. Contrary to common fear, lycanthropes are revered by the Nisari Elves, believed to be blessed beings shaped by the moon. Rumors even suggest that the first lycanthropes emerged from elven experimentation with lunar runes gone awry, adding a mystical and mysterious aspect to their history.
