The Hive Wood is a rare and fascinating species of insect, resembling an ant with a tree trunk growing from its back. Its exoskeleton is coated in wood, leaving only its eyes exposed under its wooden shell. In its dormant state, the Hive Wood is indistinguishable from the surrounding trees, burrowing its body into the ground to blend seamlessly with its environment. This remarkable creature is the result of a perfect symbiotic relationship between an insect and a tree, now inseparably fused into a single organism.

When threatened, the Hive Wood erupts from the ground, attacking with its jagged mandibles while the tree atop its back releases a unique pollen that marks its enemy. This pollen induces the release of a pheromone that attracts nearby insects, turning them into hostile swarms against the marked target. Although typically solitary, Hive Woods can sometimes form groups, creating the illusion of a walking forest when they move together. Witnesses often describe this phenomenon as the forest itself coming to life and walking away.

Newborn Hive Woods hatch from eggs within the trunk of their parent's tree. At birth, the seed of their own tree is sown into their bodies, growing alongside them and quickly merging into one entity. The Hive Wood is not only a marvel of nature's symbiosis but also a vital player in the ecosystem, hosting other insect species within its wooden body as long as they pose no threat to its life.

This CR5 creature is called a Hive Wood and is a Beast that lives mostly within the Forests.
