Cast Crabs are unique crustaceans found on every beach across Veargreum. Instead of being born with a hard external carapace or large claws for protection, they possess a natural magnetism. This magnetism attracts loose sediment, stones, and precious gems, which adhere to their bodies and superheat, forming a cohesive shell. Scientists in Veargreum speculate that the crabs have some form of heat immunity, though this is still under study.

As Cast Crabs grow, they molt and gather new materials for their shells, each time creating a stronger and more durable armor. Younger crabs typically have shells made of copper, while older, larger crabs boast shells of gold and other precious metals. This has made them highly sought after by treasure hunters and chefs alike, prompting many regions in Veargreum to enact laws to protect their populations.

On certain isolated beaches, the shores shimmer with the reflective beauty of these crabs, particularly at sunset and sunrise, creating a mesmerizing display of copper, silver and gold.
